A 5 year retrospective analysis of adverse drug reactions associated with antimicrobials in a teaching hospital of Andaman and Nicobar islands

Antimicrobials are used widely especially in developing countries, due to the high prevalence of various infectious diseases. Inappropriate use antimicrobials associated with adverse drug reactions. The present study was done analyze patterns Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) reported Reaction Monitoring Centre (AMC) during last five years. This a 5 year retrospective and cross-sectional study. After collecting demographic details patients, ADR forms, antimicrobial class drugs, data were analyzed for further details. A total 877 ADRs, 360 ADRs belonged group. When data, it revealed that majority (73.05%) adult group, 75.27% reactions category, Ceftriaxone (17.2%) most common drug-associated related skin (56.66%), rash (27.5%) encountered use, 73.61% non-serious, 69.44% recovered, 77.77% probable category. responsible maximum number ADRs. results provide information regarding pattern antimicrobials, this might be helpful improving awareness healthcare providers about PvPI subsequently increase spontaneous reporting
